More pics

You'll have to just forgive that these aren't the best quality pictures. It's hard to be the photog to your own child.
Kannon is one week old today. Wow. Last week went by really fast. We are totally in love with our boy!!!

He's Here!

Kannon Marco Schenk was born Sept 17, 2007 at 11:28 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and is 20 inches long. He is fabulous! He is a very good baby, eating like a champ and adjusting to life. He loves to be held and snuggled and we all like that too. Mason and Addi are proud big bro and sis. They love coming home from school to see baby Kannon.

Here are some pics. I'll post more later!

Mason's soccer game

Mason had his first soccer game last Saturday. He was quite...um...let's say competitive and didn't like the other team thinking they were winning the game, even though the league doesn't keep score.

Hopefully his game tomorrow will be better.

Addi's birthday

Here are some pictures from Addi's birthday!
They are poor quality, but alas, it is what it is. The first two are from when she woke up in the morning. In the 2nd picture she was thrilled to get the soundtrack to High School Musical 2. The 3rd picture is right after she blew out the candle on her birthday cake at her birthday party.

Sept 17, 2007

That is the date that Baby Boy Schenk will make his appearance. My doctor (bless her heart) is inducing me that day! I am 39 weeks today and Monday can NOT come quick enough. I am embarrassed to post this, but this is what I look like right now:

It's a terrible self portrait, but by the time Chris gets home to take a pic of me, I have my make up washed off and am in my jammies. So this will just have to do.

I'll post when our wee one arrives! Wish us luck!

Addi's birthday

I haven't downloaded the pics I took today, so I'll just post this pic of the birthday girl from another party she went to a few weeks ago.

---epic post warning---

Today is Addi's birthday. She had a great day. Me, Chris, Mason...not so much! For me it was a VERY LONG DAY that started at 4:45 am. Why that time you ask? Because I woke up to go potty for the 8th time since 11:00pm last night and couldn't go back to sleep since Addi and Chris were both asleep in my bed having a contest of who could snore the loudest. So I dragged my sorry self down stairs hoping to go to sleep on the couch. I got a few of Addi's birthday gifts out and blew up some balloons (we have a tradition of doing that on the bday morning) and settled in to watch some tv, hoping I could find something to help me fall asleep. You'd think with over 300 channels there would be something decent on. Not really. Although I did find a cool show where a lady went fishing and caught a dolphin, tuna and marlin and then went gator hunting. :)

I finally went back upstairs to Addi's bed and fell asleep at around 7:15. Mason woke up at 8:00 with his mommy sensor was on full alert and found me in Addi's room. I decided that my entire family, including the baby, was conspiring against me sleeping so Mason and I woke Addi and Chris up and went downstairs to see her open her gifts. She got a CD player, a High School Musical 2 CD and the Enchanted Princess DVD. I tried to take some pictures as she opened her gifts, but I kept falling asleep. Mason had the hardest time trying to be happy for Addi that she was getting presents and he wasn't. It made him super grumpy! Chris wasn't too happy having to deal with me and Mason both being so pleasant (not) and trying to make breakfast.

Thankfully, being the wonderful fella that he is, he sent me back upstairs to bed to take a 30 minute nap. Then the madness started. We got ready and went to Mason's soccer game (where he kept fighting with the oposing team, what's up with that?) that lasted until 11:30. Then we rushed home, changed our clothes and loaded the van to go to Addi's birthday party. (her party was at our church) The only problem was we couldn't find anyone with keys to the church. So we drove around for about 20 minutes until Debra, my mom away from mom, saved us and borrowed us her keys. We got to the church at 12:35 and the party was supposed to start at 1:00. We forgot the main dish (hot dogs) and didn't have ice or ice cream so Chris ran to Walmart while the kids and I, ok really just me, set up the gym. There was too much to do in too short of time, so 1/2 of the guests came and helped me set up. I was having contractions and I have a cold and I'm an emotional pregnant wreck so I just cried my eyes out the entire time. My poor friends thought I was either in labor or losing it. (Apparently it was the later since I'm still pregnant.) But thanks to my sweet friends everything got set up and everything was fine!
Addi's party was great. It was a movie star party. We watched "Shark Tale", ate hot dogs, candy, popcorn, soda, cake and ice cream, and played with glow-in-the-dark bracelets. Addi received a ton of nice gifts: 4 Barbies, a Barbie car, clothes, the Grease DVD, a princess writing lap desk, make up, a set of nutcrackers (what she wanted, seriously) a princess towel and purse, books, and more that I'm sure I've forgotten. She had a lovely time, playing with all her friends. I did end up having a decent time once I calmed down and could relax a bit. Almost everyone stayed to help clean up, love all you guys THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! And we headed home.
On the way home we were listening to the radio and heard them mention that they were giving tickets away to High School Musical on Ice that is coming to Nashville this week. So I looked at Chris and thought why not and called. What do ya know? I was the 9th caller and won a 4pk of tickets. I was squealing and sounded like the biggest dork. Mason thought it was hilarious to hear me on the radio. My neighbors were listening to the radio, heard me win and called to congratulate me. So funny! Addi and Mason are so pumped to go.
Addi wanted to have ribs for dinner on her birthday so we went to Logans. Big mistake. Neither Chris nor I felt good (he had a headache-I have a cold) and the kids were both amped up on candy, ice cream, soda and cake. So needless to say, it wasn't a very fun dinner. Addi dropped my coke glass on the table where it spilled all over her and me and then rolled to the floor and shattered. Mason kept laying down and crawling under the gross table, eeeewwwww, and burping and talking loudly. Addi kept playing with the blinds on the window and sticking her arms in the bbq sauce of the ribs. We were all maniacs. By the time we got done and got to the car, all 4 of us were all angry with each other and couldn't wait to get home.
Luckily we made it home with no deaths and all cooled off. The kids both took baths, Chris and I took some Tylenol and we all played with Addi's new toys. We survived another birthday. I'm sure Chris doesn't understand why I have to go nuts planning parties for our kids and today neither do I. But tomorrow, I go into planning mode for Mason's next birthday in January. :)

stuff

I have original titles don't I??

Last weekend my good friends Joanna, Sandy, Emily and Debra gave me a baby shower. It was so awesome! Everyone was so generous and we had a great time! We got tons of stuff that we needed, so all we need now is our baby boy!

We made it through our first week of both kids going to school. Every day when they got home they both melted down from being so tired, but we're working on refining our schedule and getting it down to prevent such issues.

I decided to redo the kids' bathroom. It's a Disney Princess/Cars theme. The kids love it. Thankfully we have 2 sinks so they each got their own soap dispenser, hand towel and rug. Addi's is a princess carriage sd , a pink towel and rug. Mason's is Lightening McQueen sd, a blue towel and rug. I got those cool vinyl stickers to put all over the walls. They both love it!

Have you read the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer? Holy cow! I finally jumped on the bandwagon and read it. It is sooo good. I couldn't put it down. So today I got onto amazon.com and promptly ordered the 2nd and 3rd book of this series. SOOO good! Amazon rocks too.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and so ready to deliver. I have started having major stomach issues. I have MAJOR heartburn, chest pain and nausea and vomiting. Good times, huh? Some moments I feel like I can be patient because 2 weeks and 5 days really isn't that long, but other times (especially when I'm in major pain) it feels like an eternity.

I'll end with some cute pics of my babes!

No more pity party

You'll have to excuse my last post. I was having a terrible day. I guess if you can't complain on your own blog, where can ya complain, huh?

So to combat my grouchiness, here is a list of all the things I am grateful for today:

Our new van. Yes, we are officially ready for the baby to get here now that we have a van. I swore I would never drive a van, but it has so much room, has 3 rows of air conditioner vents (a must in this 100 degree+ weather) has electric doors and lots of fun little nooks and crannies to store our stuff. It's a Kia Sedona. It's black with roof racks, that we feel that jazzed it up a bit and makes it look a little more sporty.

Even though my kids didn't sleep very well last night, they both woke up so nice and sweet this morning for school. When Mason, who hadn't opened his eyes yet and was fighting waking up told me that he wanted his mommy and gave me a big hug-well, that's one of my favorite parts of being his mom. Addi and I didn't even get in a fight about her hair this am. I put it in rollers last night so it was curly and pretty. They both had a great day and love school!

I took some sweet newborn baby pictures today. Baby G is 7 weeks old and he and his parents were fabulous! I took over 400 pictures and a ton turned out sooo good. I couldn't help holding and smooching on his sweetness. I CAN'T WAIT for our baby to get here.

While I had the back drop up, I took some really cute pics of my kids. Addi was super tired and grouchy, but even that didn't stop the gorgeousness that is her!! I will post them soon.

Chris came home from work early and let me take a quick nap. He's the BEST!!!

We went to Cracker Barrell for dinner. The pancakes there are just killer!

Good friends with encouraging words!

A nice warm bath to rest my achey body in!

There, now that feels better. It's much better to be grateful then grouchy! Have a great weekend everyone!

Tired??

Do you ever just get tired? Ya, I know you do, we're parents and adults right?

But what I'm talking about is tired of not measuring up? Tired of skipping out on your laundry to take your kids somewehre fun only to find out that you have no clean underwear for tomorrow. Tired of trying to make your family your priority only to find out that your friends are mad that you haven't spent enough time with them. Tired of feeling like crap for the last 8 months-non-stop!!!!!!!!! Tired of having to explain to everyone on the planet that yes, you really are doing your best at life. Tired of having your kids rag on you because they are hungry and the pizza hasn't finished cooking. Tired of not having enough hours in the day to get everything done. Tired of not having the energy to do everything on your to do list. Tired of no matter how hard you try, you just can't make everyone happy.

I'm quite TIRED tonight!!!! Excuse my whining, I'll hopefully be happier tomorrow!

First days of school

Mason's first day of school was on Monday. He was soooo excited. He woke up at 6:00am , got himself dressed and wanted to leave right then. We all took him to school and walked him in. When I picked him up that afternoon he said that he great day and loved school!!!

Addi's first day of school was today. She was really excited too! She was only there for a 1/2 day then I got to go and have lunch with her. After that it was time to leave and she wasn't happy about that. She wanted to stay the entire day. She drew the cutest picture of herself in class with her polka dot shirt on. She is going to have a great year!!!

In other news, it's hotter than heck here! In fact today was a record hot day. Of course it would be when I'm pregnant. Whatever!!!! This is what the thermostat said in my car. 110 degrees is ridiculous! I'm moving to Alaska!

10 things I did today

I really am trying to update more often for all 2 of you that read this. :) But most of the time I don't feel like I have anything interesting enough to say. So I saw this on another blog and thought it was a good idea. Here are 10 things I did today:

-got up (and got my entire family up) before 8:00am for the first time this summer-I am so not a morning person
-took Addi to John Colemon Elementary to meet her Kindergarten teacher, Mr Baker, and be tested by him. He was concerned about her speech, but was ok when I told him that she is already in speech therapy which is actually right across the hall from his classroom. He was really impressed with her penmanship.
-we found out who Mason's first grade teacher is and went to her class to meet her-Mrs. Thomas
-took Chris to the dentist. He had to have a bunch of work done so he had to be sedated. He got done around 11:00am. It is now 8:30pm and he is still asleep. I guess he was pretty tired!
-took the kids to McDonalds for breakfast, then to Walmart to grab a few things, then to Hollywood video to get a PS2 game and DVD's for our day at home.
-did a load of laundry
-made a new peg shelf for our lower bathroom (where the kids hang their jackets and backpacks.) We've had one for a while, but there wasn't enough room to add a hook for the baby, so I made a new one. I just bought a piece of pine that is 1x6x36 and painted it red. Then I distressed it and put some coat hooks on it. The coat hooks were ugly, shiny gold, so I spray painted them with cool spray paint that made the hooks look rusty.
-I also painted an old cabinet shelf I had. It was forest green and just hiding in my closet since I don't have that color in my house any more. I gave it a few coats of read spray paint, then distressed it. I then hung it in the bathroom on the wall by the coat hook shelf. I love the way it all turned out!!!!
-after all the projects I did, my kitchen was a mess, so I loaded the dishwasher, swept, vacuumed and mopped. So much better!!!!!
-fed Chris some yogurt, pudding and applesauce.

Whew! It's been a very long day. The kids and I are now relaxing watching a Tom and Jerry movie. I'm hoping they fall asleep soon, so I can go to sleep too!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Nesting

I have been bitten by the nesting bug. In the past 2 months or so, I have been a maniac. I have:

reoganized my kitchen utensils and cleaned out the drawers, washed all the cabinets, touched up the caulking around the baseboards, touched up the paint on the baseboards, reorganized my linen closet, reorganized the closet in my bathroom, reorganized the garage twice (needs it done once more already) and gave a load of stuff to the Salavation Army, cleaned my scrapbook room, painted Addi's room then touched up the paint in her room, bought and put together a new bookcase for her room, made some artwork and sewed some trims onto her bedspread and pillowsham, painted Mason and the baby's room, painted stars on the wall for Mason and the baby's initials, rearranged their room make room for the crib, painted the dresser, sewed a crib skirt (NEVER again-what a pain) for the crib, cleaned out the kids's old clothes, cleaned and reorganized Addi's closet, put up a new shelf in Mason's closet for the baby's clothes, reorgainzed Addi's hair drawer and I'm sure there is even more because every time I put something away I decide that the cupboard, closet or drawer needs to be reorganized.

Just today I cleaned all 3 bathrooms, vaccumed, swept and mopped, dusted, did 4 loads of laundry, painted the baby's dresser, touched up the caulking and made cinnamon rolls in the Easy Bake Oven with the kids. Man I'm pooped!! I don't have any energy to do anything really, but my need to have a clean house overrides my lack of energy.

I will take pics of the kids' rooms when I get the crib mattress and get the bumpers done.

Hope everyone has a great week!

kidlets

What a summer it has been. All I can say is thank goodness it's almost over. That sounds so mean, but it's hard to come up with ways to entertain these two all day, every day. We put in our playground thinking they would play on it a little bit....um yeah, it's 8 jillion degrees here everyday. I wish I was one of those mom's who are so excited for their kids to be home from school. Don't get me wrong, I love these two but it's been a looooong summer. On a daily basis I hear how boring I am, get asked why I am resting or napping or why we can't ever do anything fun. Nevermind that we have been to the sprinkler park a few times, swimming at the YMCA, to Chuck E Cheese, the Bounce Factory, played in our swimming pool and with the slip n slide, had a few playdates with friends, went to Summer Camp and I'm sure there's more, even though they can't think of one fun thing we've done. Good thing I love them!!! :)

School starts 2 weeks from tomorrow for Mason!!!! WOOO HOOOO!! The Kindergarteners transition in so Addi will go for her testing sometime in the next 2 weeks or so, then go for 1/2 days and full days with part and then all of her class until after about 2 weeks. Then she'll go every day, just like Mason! Yipee!!!

This weekend all clothes and school supplies are tax free here in the state of Tennessee so we will be finishing up our school shopping then. Tax free doesn't seem like that big of deal until you realize that we have almost 10% sales tax. So that 10% of savings helps. I might just work in a new computer monitor for myself too. :)

7 months

No, there is only one baby in there. Yes, I'm sure.

Really, I didn't notice that my belly was huge. Thanks for letting me know.

Yes, I am ready to have this baby.

No, I'm not kidding that I still have 2 months to go.

I know I'm on the "down hill stretch" (I ONLY have 8 weeks and 6 days left.)

No, you can't touch my belly, I don't even know you.

Yes, we do have some names chosen for him but no we aren't telling anyone. As of now, his name is Baby Boy Schenk.

Gratefulness

I seriously have nothing. All I want to do is complain. But happiness is a choice (I just gave a lesson on that in Relief Society so I better take my own advice) so I will just do a list of all the things I am grateful for:

air conditioning...there isn't a day that goes by that I don't walk into my house from the humid outdoors and say a little prayer of thanks for good ol' a/c!!!!

my ward family...I don't know what I would do without them. They are some of my closest friends. Debra is like my mom away from mom, Joanna couldn't be more generous (she's throwing me a shower next month) and always watches my kids for me, Emily is always so encouraging, Sandy (who was only in my ward for a minute) feels like a sister to me and so many more.

my laptop (and a wireless internet connection)...I love being able to check my email, surf around and edit pics from anywhere in my house.

great kids...that entertain themselves for a little while each afternoon so I can catch a quick nap.

pedicurists....the great place by Publix that does great pedicures with an awesome white tip polish job!!!!

my neighbors...especially Sam and Shanya who call me all the time to see how I'm doing and if I need anything.

OK, after actually listing all of those things, I do feel a bit better.

MIA

I haven't been here for a while, because I am sick. Man, all I can say is to be careful what you pray for. I have been praying, asking for help because I am not dealing with being pregnant very well. It's hard having a big ol' belly that has grown so fast that it hurts. But now, I wish I only had that to complain about because I have bronchitis. I have been coughing up a storm, with congestion and everything. Oh yes, it's good times here in the Schenk house!!! My OB called me in some antibiotics yesterday so if I can just not throw them up and get them working on my system, all will hopefully be well. Maybe I'll be so thankful to not cough any more that I won't notice how hard being pregnant is. Hopefully!!!! Only a little less than 12 weeks to go!!!!

Our weekend

We went to an arcade/mini golf/go kart place on Saturday. We had a ton of fun even though it was a balmy 95 degrees plus humidity. Addi was too hot and Mason was hungry so we had some issues with grouchiness, but Chris and I had lots of fun. We ignored the whining of our kidlets and just played and laughed. Chris totally cracked me up during the go karts. He had to take each kid seperately since I can't go. I loved watching him go and have fun and actually laugh. It's so good for him and I love to see it.

Mason

I feel bad that I had a post of Addi without one of my May-May so here is one solely dedicated to my big boy!

He lost another tooth. So he has 3 missing! That cute toothless smile just kills me. He also has a little lisp.

He is having a fun summer...hanging out-playing and fighting with his sister, playing lots of Playstation, torturing me, and begging me to take him swimming. He doesn't care that I don't have a bathing suit to fit my big ol' preggie belly.

I have been putting off the swimming, by setting up the slip and slide or kiddie pool almost every day. This is what happened when he went down the edge of the s & s on the his back. Silly boy.

So that is the life of Mason this summer!

Happy Fathers Day

Happy weekend to all and Happy Fathers Day to all the daddy's out there.

Here is a pic of my favorite guy!

Addi's dance class

Addi had pictures taken for her dance class on Saturday. Dang if she wasn't the cutest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The blue costume is for the dance of "It's a Hard Knock Life." It's the cutest dance.
The black outfit is for "Men In Black." It's their tap dance and it's so cute. Those glasses are killer cute!
The rainbow outfit is their ballet to the song "Over the Rainbow."
Her recital is on June 22. I wish you all were here so you could come see her dance.
